Sprung Records of the week – 001

The best way to start something.

Downstairs Collective presents a new feature hosted by the folks over at Sprung Records. Every week they will choose five of their favourite forthcoming records. The music policy is simply: strictly Techno.
For the first week they have selected an outstanding list including Robert Hood, Arts, Mörk, Nina Kravitz’s трип and Stroboscopic Artefacts.
Enjoy the music that they are feeling this week.

nthng – Community (Mörk)

The first release on Mörk, a sublabel of the great Lobster Theremin. Slightly more dancefloor orientated than Lobster Theremin material, this leans towards Ostgut territory.
RELEASE DATE 12 November 2014

Various Artists – The Deviant Octopus (трип)

Another label debut, this time on трип (headed by none other than Nina Kraviz). I’ve never been to Siberia but I imagine this is what it sounds like.
RELEASE DATE 8 December 2014

V -Five Years Of Artefacts – Chapter Three (Stroboscopic Artefacts)

To celebrate their fifth birthday, Stroboscopic Artefacts serve up a 4 track EP of crunchy techno. It’s also worth checking out the previous two chapters.
RELEASE DATE 8 December 2014

Roman Poncet – Walfisch EP (Arts Collective)

Sprung favourite Poncet delivers highly impressive drum work on this EP, with a Detroitesque B Side featuring remixes from Psyk and the king, Robert Hood.
RELEASE DATE 8 December 2014

Robert Hood – M-Print: 20 Years Of M-Plant Music (M-Plant)

No introduction is needed for this label – at 20 years old it’s still going strong and this bumper pack of techno proves it. 33 tracks of education including the notorious “Minus”, as well as “Never Grow Old” which has been pounding all kinds of dancefloor this year.
RELEASE DATE 8 December 2014
