Sprung Records of the week – 009

Late at night here comes the Techno

Sprung Records’ ninth chart includes (as per) some of the hottest new Techno releases around. Why go soft when you can go hot and heavy?
This week they have chosen records from the maestro Luke Slater (under his Planetary Assault Systems moniker), the masked Headless Horseman, Hodge, Planet Rhythm and more.

Enjoy the music that they are feeling this week.

Planetary Assault Systems – The Eyes Themselves (Mote Evolver)

Straight in with a new EP from the coolest man in techno. This is Luke Slater’s signature sound; a warm and wobbly concoction of hats, bells and bleeps with enough weight to rattle a dancefloor to its knees (the final track – “Arc” – is especially intense).
RELEASE DATE 23/02/15

Headless Horseman – Headless Horseman 006 (Self-released)

The masked producer continues his journey through the darkness with these three new ghoulish tracks. Headless Horseman’s releases have consistently impressed us and the trend continues with this EP, dripping with atmosphere and as subterranean as ever.
RELEASE DATE 23/02/15

Secluded – Delusional EP (Soma)

Sleaze Records boss brings some stomping techno to the table this week, featuring tightly programmed chord stabs and whopping big kicks. The mischievousness is balanced by a clinical sounding but equally hefty remix by Lewis Fautzi on the other side.
RELEASE DATE 23/02/15

Hodge – HEK025 (Hemlock Recordings)

Releasing an EP on such a prestigious label as Hemlock is no mean feat, and Bristolian Hodge has managed to do so with style and grace. Fusing dubstep, techno and grime in his usual manner, he has managed to create a colourful and smoky EP that sounds distinctly British. Lovely.
RELEASE DATE 23/02/15

Various Artists – Profile EP (Planet Rhythm)

Planet Rhythm celebrate their 101st release in a terrifying fashion – Emmanuel, Abstract Division, Scalameriya, Re:Axis and VSK (all heavyweights in their own rights) provide four bombs designed to jolt dancefloors.
