Relative 013 – John Swing / EMG

“an outstanding body of quality, raw analogue House and Techno “

Despite the fact this beast was out more than a month ago it more than deserves a feature on out site. Not just the record itself but the incredible work John Swing and his brother EMG are doing with their label, Relative which they have along with Warm Sounds and also Appointment – the imprint they run alongside Analogue Cops. They keep it quiet and they don’t play out too much and you can tell they are real studio animals. The two Italian brothers have produced an outstanding body of quality, raw analogue House and Techno releases and their thirteenth release is another sell out.

Relative 13 features John Swing’s ‘Keep It Up’ on the A-side, which is a killer House record: the track is driven by a relentlessly sampled funky bass-line which leads to a brilliant breakdown, sampling different horn sections before dropping it straight back in with a monstrous uplifting club vibe. The B-side sees EMG experimenting with raw NYC Garage grooves leading into an incredibly spacious and ethereal synth melody while a voice is telling you “Ah, you making me feel good inside”. This is what the record is doing to us, true feel-good music.
